According to Ancestry.com, my great grandfather Joel William Chivers was a 2nd Lt in the 34th Regiment , Texas Cavalry, aka Alexander's 2nd Texas Partisan Rangers. I can't find more details on him from Ancestry or Fold3. He was born in Copiah county, Mississippi in 1838, Married Martha M Weems in approx. 1859, had two children Laura (1859) and William Absalom (1861 or 2) and died of some disease in approx. 1862-3. Although he was a practicing physician in Arkansas when he signed up in Texas, he may not have been a Dr. in the Civil War. Any input from anyone???? NW. Gallius@aol.com
