The Texas in the Civil War Message Board

Unionist conspiracy, Weatherford area, spring 1864

I've just run across about 12-13 pages of testimony about a Unionist conspiracy in the Weatherford area of Texas, in the spring of 1864. Gen. Blount was supposed to advance through Indian Territory as one of a 5 pronged attack on Texas. There were supposedly "spies" sent out from Ft. Smith. Another testimony relates 600 men and 100 wagons at Ft. Chadbourne almost ready to head to California. One man had some really interesting viewpoints on the future if the Confederacy won (the poor would lose the vote and juries), and on the government design he would prefer (no states--all federal). About a dozen men are actually named. It's in the Civil War Soldiers--Confederate--Misc. files under Larkin Beck. I found it in Fold3 but it should also be available anywhere the original microfilm is housed. Just thought some folks might find it interesting.
