James Parker, age 33, Private, Company D, Burnet's 1st Battalion Texas Sharp Shooters, enlisted August 1, 1862 in Grayson County, Texas by Capt. J. M. Hurt for 3 years or the war, deserted 20 July 1863 at Brandon, Mississippi, captured near Jackson, Miss. July 21, 1863, sent to Snyder's Bluff, Miss., July 3o, forwarded to Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Indiana, desired to take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States, return to Missiouri and remain loyal to the U. S., resident of Grayson County, Tex., enlisted into the United States service March, 1865, no further records

M323: Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Texas

I tried to find a Federal soldiers file for him, however, there are some 311 James Parkers in Federal units. Couldn't see a match.
