The last muster roll for Company C which is in the records is for the bi-monthly period Jan & Feb, 1864. In as much as there are no muster roll records for Key, we can assume he enlisted in the regiment some time after February, 1864. Most likely conscripted.

Based on the card, on DS Tanner, Falls Co., I would believe that he was serving on Extra Duty as a Tanner in Falls County. Most likely receiving an extra wage of $0.25 daily.

In February, 1864 the Conscription ages were revised to include those 17-50.
