I came across a thread posted here 3 years ago of Capt Ryan. I would like to know if there is any more information about Hillary Ryan. From a bio of him recently found, is states he resigned his office of Captain of Co.D, to accept that of Regimental Surgeon. His home was in Lampasas from 1857 to the end of the war, then moved to Brenham and to Caldwell. He died in Colorado City, May 1884, and I don't know if he put in for pension. Anything about him would be of great interest to my family.
