Slewey, Charles may have repaired ambulances and furnished turpentine but his record states residence New Orleans, and he was paroled with the 9th Texas Cavalry, Company I. At his age he was a tough old coot. I just wonder if he made the Tennessee Campaign with the regiment. He is one of the about 200 who were still with the regiment in 1865 at Jackson, MS when the unit was paroled. Without records from 1864 and five months of 1865, we just do not know how long he was there and what he contributed.
