I have a SGT James Hardin and a PVT John Hardin and a PVT Joseph Hardin and a Capt J. Hardin all in Company A, 6th Texas Cavalry.

Andrew J. Hardin, Capt b 4 Nov 1815 d 20 Jan 1887, Enlisted/commissioned 10 Sep 1861, Dallas, Dallas, TX. Not re-elected May 1862. Dropped from 6th Rolls 28 May 1862. Lived in Terrel and died in Wilbarger, TX.

James C. Hardin, SGT, Enlisted 10 Sep 1861, Dallas, Dallas, TX. Age 23. Sick near Pineville, MO. 23 Oct 1861. Died there 18 Nov 1861.

John Hardin, PVT, Enlisted 21 March 1862 at Camp Washington, AR.Detailed as nurse in Sep 1862.Present Nov 1862 through last record May Jun 1864. His horse was disabled in May 1864. Best guess he was present till Jan 1865 and then went home. He would have been in the Battles of Corinth, Hatchie Bridge, Holly Springs Raid, Thompson Station, Yazoo City, Ross' Detail, the Atlanta And Tennessee Campaigns. Many men went home for cloths and horses in Jan 1865, and did not come back, or met others coming back in May 1865 and knew it was over.

Joseph W. Hardin, PVT Records very similar to his brother John, above. Listed on a scout in July 1865. Those guys with the scouts in July 1864, usually stayed with the scouts for the rest of the war.

There are also three Hardin PVTs in Company C, 6th Texas Cavalry Regiment, a Joseph R.; a Robert B.; and a William. I do not have their records at this time.

Hope this helps.
