Re: 22nd Texas(Hubbard's) Infantry, Jasper Monroe

Jasper E. Monroe, age 27, 4th Sergeant, Capt. J. J. Carter's Company, Hubbard's Regiment Texas Infantry,* joined for duty and enrolled May 10, 1862 at Quitman, Tex. for 3 years, received $50 bounty October 9, 1862, recorded on the November, 1862 Regimental Report as absent, with leave, no further records

Note: There are no bi-monthly Company muster reports surviving from the May/Jun 1862 muster till the Jan/Feb, 1864 muster. This would signify that not being recorded on the latter muster roll, he must have been dropped from the rolls during the intervening period. This could have been because of transfer, discharge, death, capture, desertion, etc.

* This company was known at various times as Captain Carter's Company, Hubbard's Regiment Infantry; Captain Carter's Company Texas Volunteer Infantry, and Company H, 32nd Regiment Texas Infantry.
