Re: Waller's TX 2d Cav & 13th Battn TX Cav

My g-g grandfather, Thomas Preston Hightower was a captain in Wallers' 13th. To my knowledge he was in command when they lost their horses after taking to the swamps to escape capture. Most horses and equipment, saddles etc. were lost but only a few men. They had previously done lots of damage to the union forces in that area of Louisianna but the trappers got trapped in this incident. Does anyone have the information if Capt. Hightower went to Mew Mexico with Waller ? His sons, Charnell Berrian Hightower and Joseph both were in Co. I Dresdens "Burford" 19th Tx. Cavalry. His brother Rollie was in the 26th, I believe, which was part of Ross'. Every male member of age or close to age served the confederacy. He died 1899 Thorpe Springs, near Hightower Crossing, Hood county. Buried Frost Texas, Navarro Co. He was also a Mexican War veteran.
