Re: John Releford Stewart, Company K, 6th TX Cav R

I believe the Parole record for John R. Stewart, Purchasing Agent, Com. Dept., was misfiled with that of John B. Stewart of the 6th Texas.

John B. Stewart, age 26, Private, Company K (Capt. Jas. W. Throckmorton's Co,) , Stone's (6th) Regiment Texas Cavalry, enlisted September 12, 1861 at Camp Bartow, Tex. by Col. B. W. Stone for 12 months, wounded, left hip, at Davis Bridge/Mill, Miss. December 21, 1862 & left, admitted December 22 to Branch 2, U. S. A. General Hospital, La Grange, Tenn., died December 25, 1862

* The 6th (also called 2nd and Stone') Regiment Texas Cavalry was organized in September 1861, for twelve months. It was re-organized under the Conscript Act in May, 1862

...

John R. Stewart, Purchasing Agent, C. S. A., Com Dept., signed his parole at Mills ???, Tex. June 5, 1865
