Re: Alexander S. Steuart - Murder and Info. *PIC*

There is a grave with the name
Alexander Somerville Steuart
1839-1865

located at GPS coordinates
28.14307687, -97.93158793
You can see the outline of the cemetery
very clearly when you zoom in using Google Earth.

This location is an unrecognized cemetery on
private property in Live Oak County about
2,000 feet from the old Nueces River which is
now Lake Corpus Christi. The land is locally
known as McWhorter land. It was in the
McWhorter family in the mid 1800s when the
cemetery received the first occupant and is
still under ownership of his descendents.

Timing is everything. I would not know about
this except one of our older county residents
remembered the cemetery from his younger
days and brought it to the attention of a local
historian. It is overgrown and difficult to access.
Thanks to them the cemetery is just starting
the process of becoming recognized by the
county and state. The point of contact is
Mrs Roberta Dobie. She has reference maps
of the site as well as names. I will forward
replies to her.
