Battle of Palmito Ranch

I had the privilege over the holidays to visit the site of the Battle of Palmito Ranch, considered by many to be the last land battle of the Civil War. The site is part of a National Wildlife Refuge in South Texas a few miles east of Brownsville on Boca Chica Road (State Hwy 4) just north of the Mexican border. The land still looks much as it did 150 years ago. Not much there, except a couple of interpretive signs and a historical marker, but it was interesting to visit.
