There is only one card in his file recording his absence without leave.

I suspect that he might have been a Conscript, age 17 or over 45, drafted February 1864 or later, subsequently absenting himself as soon as possible. As there are no Regimental Returns subsequent to August, 1864, we have no knowledge if he returned.
