I am not sure if this thread is still active or not.
My name is Dusty Williams, a historian for Grayson County, Texas. I write a historical column for the Van Alstyne Leader and am working on an article on Bill Wilson.
Has there been anymore documentation or evidence on the death place of Bill Wilson?
I read on here where someone said that he died and that his horse Dime brought him home. This does not collaborate with Mr. Arthur's book who said that Bill turned Dime lose because he went lame. Also, Bob Wilson in his new book said that his father was told that Bill Wilson (his grandfather) was visiting them at their Missouri home when he was a boy.
Lastly, I have come upon several newspaper articles where it describes that Blackmore and Thompson were convicted of the murder of a Missourian by the name of Wilson a few miles north of Mantua. Mantua was south of Van Alstyne...at the time of this murder, Van Alstyne was not in existence.
Somehow, now there is a rumor that his body was buried near highway 5 and prong creek, however I have seen no evidence of this whatsoever and would very much like to know where this rumor is coming from.
Thank you for any information,
