I and my late wife were born and raised in Nacogdoches County and lived most of our lives in Houston. Van Zandt County is to the north and West of Nacogdoches and is on IH 20 near Tyler.

I have been to Col Walter Gresham's House in Galveston. As far as I know I am related to him a long way back. My Gresham Family came from King and Queen Co., Virginia to Oglethorpe Co., Ga, then to Lowndes Co., Alabama before moving to Rusk Co., Tx in 1852. I have read that Col Walter Gresham was from K & Q Co., Va before coming to Galveston, Tx. I enjoy your posts on The Civil War message Board. My GGrandfather and his brothers were in the 11th, 12th and 18th Tx Infantries
in the War between the States.
