I am trying to confirm my great grandfather's participation in the civil war. We have notes indicating a Sept. 1863 enlistment as a 1st Sgt in the 35th Texas cavalry in Cherokee county, Texas and this is also mentioned in Ogreta Huttash's book on Cherokee County civil war participants but this is insufficient to satisfy getting a CSA marker on his tombstone.
