Ken,

"Personnel of the Civil War" by William Amann lists Capt. E. McLean as commanding the "Galveston City Guards" (a company of Texas Volunteers).

"Several volunteer militia units formed between 1845 and 1861, including the Galveston City Guards, an infantry company that merged with the Galveston Artillery." https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/qnt02

"At a meeting of. the Galveston City Guard’, last evening it was voted to change the name of the company to Galveston City Grays. The organization of the company was perfected by the election of the following officers: Captain Eph. Mclean; 1st Lieutnant, J.S. LeClere; 2d Lt., Jas. IL. Iockhart,Junior; 2d It., Henry L. Flash; 1st Sergeant, George A.Peck; 2d, . Jag. F. Louden; 3d, S. J. Beckett;4th, 5. B. Tierman; Color Sergeant, D. W. C. Stone; Surgeon,— ; 1st Corporal E. Parizot; 2nd, V. W. Byrnes ; 3d, Chas. Atkins; 4th, Jos. Aiken, Adolphe Menard; Treasurer, J. S. LeClere; Armorer, Daniel Manning.

Some of the persons listed in the name change to Galveston City Grays appear to have served in the 26th Tex. Cav., you might ask George Martin to look them all up and see if that is where they all went.
