Yes I'd say the 25 cents per day was duty pay on top of his $11 per month. I can't find anything on his death or burial. The pay receipt of March 12, 1863 may hold a clue. it may be telling us his approximate death date or just that he came off of beeves driving duty on or about that day. I was looking for a skirmish or fight around the Vicksburg area on or near that March 12, 1863 date, but all the fights seem to be in May and up until the July 4th surrender. It would be nice to know where he was on that March 12 date. On the pay receipt pages it kind of looks like some faded writing may have been on them at one time, I tried highlighting them in several different ways, but could never read anything.
