The 13th Texas Cavalry was dismounted in the spring of 1863 near Pine Bluff, Arkansas and sent down into Louisiana, and yes they participated in the Battles of Pleasant Hill and Mansfield, La in the spring of 1864. On Dr. B. T. Crumley's wife's Texas Confederate Pension application it states that he served in Smith's Co. A 13th Texas Cavalry as a 1st Assistant Surgeon. So Dr. C.W. Hudson must have served under him then as a 2nd Assistant Surgeon.
