These are just some of the Trans Miss records at NARA that cover the Trans Miss in the time period you requested. Some of my notes on the 1st Texas Sharpshooter Battalion came from these sources, including these:

1/21/64 Kirby Smith orders 1st Tex SS Bn to Ind. Terr. to report to Maxey

3/1/64 Shreveport, Dept Hqs to Gen Maxey cdg IT-acknowledge the receipt of your communication of the 10th ultimo. In reply the Lt-Gen cdg directs me to say:
First-That Maj Burnet has been authorized to recruit his Co’s from conscripts through the enrolling officers. Gen Magruder’s order reorganizing the State troops prescribes the manner in which & the circumstances under which men liable to conscription may enter the CS service. It is the desire of the cdg Gen that the ruled here laid down should be uniformly observed. State troops may be enlisted in the CS service prior to their entrance into new State organizations. After they have entered new State organizations they cannot interfered with.
Second-Your request to have Capt J. B. Anderson's Co report to you has been referred to Gen McCulloch, as also your application for the return to duty with their commands of the 25 men of Maj Burnet's command now on post duty at Marshall.
Third-The 3 men detailed in the Engineer Dept at Shreveport cannot be returned, as their services are indispensable there
Fourth-That he cannot authorize the mounting of Bass' Regt & Burnet's Bn-you have been authorized to call upon Gen Cabell for assistance when very much pressed by the enemy.
Fifth-Gen Holmes has been directed, if it is practicable, to send Gen Cabell's command to the vicinity of Ultima Thule. The difficulty of procuring forage there may, however, prevent the change. If, however, it is made, you will not need Maj Burnet's & Col Bass' commands as mounted men.
Sixth-The cdg Gen directs that you forward the papers relative to Capt Baker's Co, claimed by Maj Burnet.

7/20/64 Fort Towson, Col Portlock’s remarks to accompany the tabular inspection report-
1st Bn Tex Sharpshooters, Maj Burnett cdg-this excellent command was organized by special orders from Sec of War for the duty designated by its name. It consists of 5 Co’s & is in a fine state of discipline & drill, for which its officers deserve credit. It presents a military appearance but little inferior to regulars. It is now acting as a special support to Howell’s Btry

4/25/65 S O #115 Hqs Dist of Tex-Houston
VII-In accordance S O #97/I Dept Hqs, Gen Bee is assigned to the command of the 2nd Bgde of Maxey's Div of Infy.
VIII-The following commands will constitute a part of the 2nd Bgde of Maxey's Div, in addition to those already designated:
20th Tex DC (Bn), Major J. R. Johnson;
1st Bn Tex SS, Major James Burnet
