I agree with you that the formation of 11 Texas Roberts was in the listed towns but there was a Company I formed
in Canton Texas which is Van Zandt County. There are a
number of Van Zandt county residents in Company I which
had Capt. T.B. Smith. He was the Capt. until just before
Jenkins Ferry battle and I have a diary that lists daily
camp life and what they were near except for the trip to
Vicksburg which I have his Lt. Foster's diary listing that
Capt. Smith died of pneumonia at Princeton Arkansas just
after the Jenkins Battle and he says in his diary that he
is very ill. He does mention Walker in the diary and did
fight at Pleasant Hill Battle which is described. Have you
ever been to the Texas State Archives and know what records
are there? I live in Hot Spring Arkansas. Long trip to
Austin if you do not know what is there.
