Hi Alan,

I have corresponded with a descendant of this other William
and because he lives near Dallas, he was able to quickly locate the service record. The only helpful data was the age of enlistment but I think this is enough.

As you pointed out, the name was not common in Texas at that time. The descendant confirms that the the age from the service record matches his ancestor. This ancestor was known to be in the general area beginning in 1858 and family tradition held that this ancestor was a Confederate soldier.. So therefore, despite having no pension application, I can think we can safely conclude that this other William was man who actually served in the 19th Tx Cav.
