Thank you for your response. This is a mystery to me. I did find Jasper in the 1st Battalion. According to family history he did die at Shiloh. We visited there in the middle 60s and saw the mass burials. I just don't have any idea how to find out about him. My uncle did tell me that he had information that he was in a Sharpshooter unit. Any suggestions you might have will be very helpful.
He is on the 1860 census in Lamar County, Paris, TX. I do know that this is the right Jasper because of the spouse name.
