Gideon Smith is my g-g-grandfather and I have a good deal of information about him, but this is the first time I've ever heard mention of him being a prisoner of war. What is your source for that information? I would love to learn more.

A notable thing about Gideon is that he was a state congressman and signed the Declaration of Seccession for the State of Texas as a representative of Fannin County.
