Because San Patricios was in the the border area between Texas and Mexico, it was abandoned by the orginal Irish settlers following the Texas Revolution. The area was not resettled till after the Mexican - American War.I don't know if any of the orginal Irish settlers ever returned. Hobby's 8th. Texas Infantry was from and served in this area.
