Whitfield; Deen Station, Cherokee Nation, I.T.

Bill Nolan,

Major J.M. Whitfield wrote an evaluation of a large Texas militia that was stationed at Deen Station, Cherokee Nation, I.T. on December 31, 1861. ..This large militia left North Texas to participate in the August 10, 1861 Battle of Wilson's Creek, but arrived three days too late.

Upon request, I will send you a copy of the three (3) pages of my 1,022-page book that I devoted to this militia. ..This information may be helpful in your study of Whitfield.

Deen/ Dean Station, Cherokee Nation, I.T. ..I have searched for years for the location of this "Deen Station, Cherokee Nation." I'd be happy to send you a copy of the handwritten record. ..Our friend Ken Martin thinks that it may have been on the Arkansas border east of now Colcord, Delaware County OK, in Arkansas.
