The 3rd Texas Infantry did serve in the Red River Campaign. They fought at the Battle of Jenkins' Ferry in Arkansas on April 30, 1864. A list of their casualties was published in either the Galveston Weekly or Houston Telegraph newspapers in May 1864. Morevover, Dr. Henry M. Dye treated several members of the 3rd Texas Infantry that were wounded at Jenkins' Ferry and detailed their injuries in his medical casebook.
