Civil War Veterns Reunion

According to family stories, Isaac Slaughter got into a fight with a Mr. Tingen over Isaac's wife Amelia Annie and during the fight Mr. Tingen was killed in Granville county, NC. Supposedly this Mr. Tingen was from a prominate family and Isaac made his escape to Texas where he was seen at a civil war reunion by comrades who knew his family. He asked them to take back a message to his family in NC that he was well and had remarried. At this time I have not been able to locate him in Texas. Isaac served with the 35th North Carolina Infantry Co. E. from 6/6/1864 until he was captured and wounded at Fort Stedman on 3/25/1865. He was hospitialized in Washington DC and paroled in June of 1865. I am looking for a way to find out what reunion he might have attended. I think it was probably for one of the Texas units that served with the Army of Northern Virginia. Maybe if I can find that reunion I can find Isaac. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me on this.
