Re: CSA units in the Red River Campaign

The 18th Dismounted Cavalry regiment was in Garland's brigade & the 25th Texas Dismounted Cavalry regiment was in Deshler's brigade, both belonging to Churdchill's division captured at Arkansas Post.

After exchange, these regiments served in the Army of Tennessee in Cleburne's Division.

Neither regiment was in Scurry's brigade or in the Red River campaign.

Luckett's 3rd infantry regiment served throughout the war. First, on the Gulf Coast, then it joined Walker's Division just after the battle of Pleasant Hill in the early Spring of 1864. The regiment remained in this division until the end of the war.

Yager's 3rd Texas cavalry battalion was combined with Taylor's 8th Texas cavalry battalion to reform the 1st Texas Cavalry regiment in May, 1863. Buchel was named as the commander of this regiment. Previously, he had served as LtCol of Luckett's 3rd Infantry regiment.
