Re: East Texans Sent to North and West Texas

Thanks for the response, Patti.

I was actually seeking Civil War information about my BARTON family in Upshur/Titus County, TX, when I noticed that there was a J. H. KEITH in the 2nd Battalion Cavalry, State Troops. My G-G-G Grandfather was John Henton KEITH of Titus County. He was also a veteran of the Battles of Bexar and San Jacinto during the Texas Revolution. Although too old to have been conscripted, I was hoping to find more information about the organization and possibly about him.

Coincidentally, I also noticed an S. P. BARTEN listed in the same company. Ideally, this would be either Samuel BARTON or Soloman BARTON, both my G-G-G uncles from Upshur County.

Known BARTON's with Civil War Service from my family include the following: Bailey 2nd Texas Infantry, Company D

Alfred 17th Texas Cavalry, Company G

David 3rd Texas Cavalry, Company H
I'm still seeking service records for: Martin

Samuel

Soloman

Known KEITH's with Civil War service from my family include the following: William D. Morgan's TX Cavalry, Company I

Charles 9th TX Infantry, Company D

Oliver P. 18th TX Infantry, Company F

Jacob 18th TX Infantry, Company F

Jonathan 18th TX Infantry, Company F
