I have seen the Alvis name in this Giddings Batallion and have assumed it to be a likely possibility...even started to order the records.
However in recently gathered data from a now deceased family members files , I've seen where she had , back in 1988 , already requested info from the Texas State Archives on a James A. Alvis from Travis Co with the 26th Brigade Militia name on it. I do not know how she came about getting this data that he might even be in this unit .... thus I am "fishing" for ANY info I come across as I would like to have his Civil War records . But of course I want the right records since they are so expensive. I just assumed since he lived most of his married life in Travis Co he would naturally be somewhere in that area.
