Re: Company C 33rd Regiment 5th Texas Calvary

Hello --
My gr. gr. grandfather was William Carl Ohrndorf. I found a William Ohrndorf in Co. C, but don't know if it's he. (I'd never heard of him being in the war.) He was German, living in Travis County, probably in or near Austin. I know he died June 21, 1863 but thought it was of a heart attack. Does it make sense for a 43-year-old German immigrant grocery merchant from Travis county to have been in this unit? Could he have been conscripted? And if it was he, could he have been wounded or made ill enough to have died in June 1863? It just doesn't add up, as far as I can tell, which makes me think it's the wrong guy.
