I am trying to locate the death date and burial place of Newton A. Sheperd (also shown as Shepard and Shepperd). Newton Shepherd was born in TN around 1846 and was a member of Turney's First Tennessee Regiment. Per census records he married in TX around 1880 and was living in Just. Precinct #3 in Bexar County on the 1900 census and in Precinct #8 of Bexar County in 1920. Wife Mary apparently died after 1920 as he is shown as a widower on his Confederate pension application in 1923. The 1923 address is shown as Pipe Creek in Bandera County.
