Re: Co A, 1st Texas Heavy Artillery

Hi Patricia, and thank you for responding. I know this Lum Johhnson wasn't my great grandfather, Columbus George Johnson, as he wasn't born until 1862. I guess I'm just wondering about him because I found him in the Confederate Home here in Ardmore, now the Veterans Home.
As you know he is on a past resident list, and says he is from Ardmore the way I read it. I of course am still looking for his father, John Franklin, and grand father John Franklin. John junior was known as Jack Johnson, and the sr was called Black Jack. My younger brother says he can remember my dad visiting someone in the old home here, but we have no idea who it was.
I guess what I really wanted to know was more about Co A 1st Tx Heavy Art unit and where it was recruited.
Thanks again for your help.
Karla
