Re: B. J. Elmore Gravesite in Hale County, Alabama

B. H. Elmore Was a member of Company G, 3rd Texas Cavalry Regiment, Ross' Brigade. Passing in 1865 would probably come from wounds received in the retreat from Tennessee after the battle of Franklin. The 3rd had no major or minor engagements in 1865. They may have had some skirmishes with probes from Tennessee. The lady may have come from Texas to care for him and stayed in Alabama or may have wished to be buried with her lover. The 3rd was organized in July / August 1861 in the North Texas area and finalized in Dallas. They were one of the first Texas units to go to General McCullogh in Arkansas. Two more Elmores were in the Company G, 9th texas Cavalry formed in October 1861 in the same area. They were J.C.C. and R.V. Elmore.
Maybe someone else has more on this family.
