15th Texas Infantry

I have found an 1864 Muster Roll of Second Frontier District, Texas State Troops, Coryell Co., Tx. that includes a G.H. Ash. I am quite certain that this is my husband’s great-grandfather. I have also found other Texas Civil War records for a J.H. Ash listed as a private in 15th Texas Infantry Company B and the 15th Regiment of Texas Infantry Company E. There is a note with that record that gives the name G.H. Ash as an alternate name. Is it possible that these 2 records might pertain to the same person? I have done a lot of online research but have not been able to find information that might confirm that the two records refer to the same person. I would like to know more about the Infantry Regiments of that area and how they were formed.
