The following Whitfield / Ross Texas Cavalry Brigade companies basically came from Tarrent County. Companies A and C, 9th Texas Cavalry Regiment. Many men from Tarrent probably served in other companies of the Brigade because they were mustered in or near Dallas. The 9th coming more from the Tarrent area and actually mustering there. The 6th was more from Dallas and Collin Counties with others from over the state. The 3rd and 27th Texas Cavalries Regiments came from the north east Texas areas, but could will have picked up people traveling through heading for the war.
