Well's Battalion, Scanland's Co A, Pvt Landers

Shirley Hampton,

From Wells' Battn archival records transcribed by David L. Haimerl of Stover MO.

Landers, Marcus M[anning]: Enlisted 18 Nov 61 at Ft Arbuckle by Mercer Fain for 3 yrs. A PVT in Co ’A’/ Scanland’s Squad. Paid 30 Sep 62. [In 1864, he had a freight business on the frontier; in 1871, he froze to death when he was caught in a storm on Red River.]

Quoting:
I am somewhat related to the Johnny Landers that posted this info. Unfortunately he is now deceased. Marcus Manning Landers had two sons, his first born was John Wesley Landers, my grandfather. The other son was Wm. Franklin Landers, Johnny was a great grandson of Wm. Franklin.
