This study is actually going to be a statistical analysis using the 1860 census as the framework to determine what were the socio-economic, ethnic, religious ect... characteristics of these men who enlisted. I was planning on trying to create a data set for the entire compliment of frontier regiments, but that is looking like it is going to require more time to put together than I have right now. Do the men listed in you book tend to come from a specific region and if so what percentage of the total # who served are represented in your book? What do you think is a rough estimate of the number of men in your book? I is kind of looking like your book might be an excellent place to start.
