The Cadet Cavalry Battalion also known as Fulcrod's Cavalry Battalion organized in January 1864. Consolidated with Border's Cavalry Battalion and designated as Anderson's (later Border's)Cavalry Regiment in April 1864.

Texas Border's Cavalry Battalion organized in early 1864. Consolidated with the Cadet Cavalry Battalion and designated as Anderson's (later Border's)Cavalry Regiment in April 1864.

Lieutenant Colonel John P. Border commanding.

Texas Anderson's - Border's Cavalry Regiment organized by consolidation of the Cadet and Border's Cavalry Battalions in April 1864. Dismounted in March 1865. Surrendered by General E. K. Smith, commanding Trans-Missippi Department, on May 26th 1865.

Colonel Thomas S. Anderson commanding
Field officers: Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel John P. Border and Lieutenant Colonel Philip Fulcrod.

Mike, I think from what you have listed in your post that your John A. Thompson may have been in the Texas State Troops under Holt then mustered out in early 1864 and joined Anderson/Borders Regiment.

I hope this helps,
Gary D. Bray
