alan, my gg-grandad's name was marcellus h. dowdle. by coincidence my insurance man's name is jimmy reddon. i ask him if he had any kin-folk in civil war or from alabama. he told me his g-grandad's name was ruben reddon and was a sherriff from birmingham alabama. i found him in my gg-grandad's co. and unit, what a small world we live in sometimes! my gg-grandad had 2brothers in same unit. a john hamilton dowdle, and a joseph dowdle. they were all born in MADISON COUNTY ALABAMA. i believe they all or some lived in itawamba mississippi. phil
