Looks like your ancestor lived near Fulton MS and volunteered in Capt. Redden's Company from Marion County AL. His service record includes several handwritten notes by Capt. Redden and Missouri C. Dowdle concerning her claim for pay due her deceased husband. There is also a physical description of the man signed by Capt. Redden.

The service file for James H. Dowdle shows him present at Andersonville GA on Apr. 26, 1864, having been wounded twice and nominated for the Confederate roll of honor for his actions in the Battle of Chancellorsville VA, May 2-3, 1863.
