Shirley Hampton,
One reason that I have your "Evan Savera Singletary" listed as a Sgt. vs. a Cpl. is probably because sometimes promotions are scribbled in the margins or at the bottom of a record.
.
In this Montague County militia of 71 men, I have a record of 10 deserters, 3 men discharged, plus 10 men dropped from the rolls.
.
If you'll send me your e-mail address, I'll send you a copy of page A-317 from my book.

If you'll send me the year and county that Andora m-Marcus Manning Landers plus number of ch, I'll include it in the above record.
This Wells' Battalion listing is not in my 1,022-page book but will be on the Webmaster Ken Martin's new "Indian Territory in the Civil War" web site of primary Civil War era records that Webmaster Jim Martin posted on Thursday, 1 November 2007, at 7:57 a.m.

Texas Ranger vs. Texas State Troop.
The Texas Legislature changed the designation of the Texas militia several times. These organizations, including the Texas Rangers, retained the names of their ‘old’ organizations, despite the Legislature’s repeated reorganization with new names.
