Russell...Actually just to clarify,Alf Johnson only brought about 50 of his scouts to the Post from his headquarters at St Charles before the surrender.The balance of his company not at the surrender later became Co.E,Morgan's Battalion.Captain Johnson died on the way to the prison camp.His second in command,Thomas James,not surrendered at the Post led the company until his resignation later that year.Next in line was Richard B Carr who led the Spy's or Co.E,of Morgan's Battalion until the end.
Certainly as noted,Morgan's battalion was perhaps a loosly designated organization of varied companies formaly from either other commands or circumstances.
