Shane --

Levi Morgan served most of the war as a member of Co. "I", 1st Texas Heavy Artillery, surrendering with that command. Earlier he enrolled for the war as a member of Capt. M. D. Herring's Co. "B", Spaight's Texas Battalion, later reorganized as the 15th Texas Regiment. As stated on his release papers, at the time of Morgan's discharge, the regiment could be found at Camp Daniel near Tyler TX. He had been too sick to perform any duty for the previous fifty days.

The regiment broke camp near Tyler on Sept. 9, 1862, marching over three hundred miles to Little Rock AK duinrg the next three weeks. Morgan had been discharged and sent home long before anyone in this regiment heard a shot fired in battle.

Levi Morgan's widow later filed for a pension from Fayette County TX. She may have stated that he husband was wounded in service, but I don't see anything in his military service files to support that claim. Copies of service files and pension applications are avaiable here --
