I always thought it was a fascinating event. I "hail" from Pensacola, Florida. Attended High School and College here in Texas. Naturally, when I arrived here in Texas, I had absolutely no Texas History. So, before I could graduate, I was required to take "TEXAS HISTORY" Needless to say, I fell in love with the history of Texas. So different from the Southern History I had grown up with. The Texas Rangers fascinated me...I read everything I could about the pioneers, the Indian culture here....the CW events. I love the missions in San Antonio, the stories....what a great state. When the book "TRUE WOMEN" came out, I wanted to explore the historical "facts" that the novel was supposedly based on. Of course, I had always heard tales of the Runaway Scrape....so that was interesting...

Now my grands and 2 little gr grans are TEXANS.
