Scotty,the men of the 17th Cavalry captured at Arkansas Post were exchanged in Spring of 1863 and attached to the Army of Tennessee. The 17th Consolidated Regiment of Texas(dismounted) was made part of General Camille J. Polignac's Brigrade and fought with the Trans-Mississippi Dept. mostly in Louisiana in the Red River Campaign.
