James Kinsey,

Stone County, TX. ..Since Texas does not have a Stone County, do you mean Stonewall County TX? ..I could not find a Pool, Poole, nor a Petty'pool (various spellings) in Stonewall County TX.
.
Are you referring to Henry Pool, J.F. Pool, or Joseph W. Pool? Is your Poole the "Joseph Pool" found in the 1860 Smith Co TX cen.

Quoting:
I had a gggrandfather Poole who fought with the 10th. Was captured and taken to Rockville POW camp from which he escaped by assuming the identity of a fallen comrade. He walked back to Texas and settled in Stone County. He was wounded several times according to his pension records. I believe the 10th came to the rescue of an Alabama reg. at Vicksburg, according to the marker on the battlefield.
