Lt Edw Malone Sr Galveston Battery

Seek fellow decendants of Lt. Edward Malone, Sr., CSA (1821-1867), Mobile-Galveston cotten broker; who served under his brother-in-law, Capt. Henry Van Buren, in the Rio Grandee Volunteer Light Artillery (guns from Texas Republic Navy). Their father-in-law was Mobile, Alabama; War of 1812, 3rd U.S. Inf., Col. Gilbert Christian Russell, Sr., who wed Margaret Hollinger.

Later Malone was a Capt. in Co. F, 24th Ala. Inf.; after twice wounded, in the Ala. Provost Marshal's Corps. He and his brother, Thomas Malone, Jr., Mobile, were in Capt. Crawford's Co., Col. Wither's Ala. Regt., in the Mexican War. In the Texas Republic War, Malone may have been in Capt. E. M. Collin's Co.?

Henry Van Buren was a Capt. in the Texas Republic War, from Harris Co., Texas.

Malone never recovered fully from his war wounds, and died Galveston July 12, 1867; buried Trinity Epis. Church, Galveston. Seek his obituary. He was born June 26, 1821; and 12-20-1852 Mobile; wed Miss Ann Maria Russell. Widow Mrs. Ann Maria Russell Malone, was living Mobile 1882. Seek her grave.

Edward's brother, 2nd Lt. Thomas Malone, Jr., CSA, Mobile merchant; was in Co. E, 36th Ala. Inf. Their brother-in-law was 1st Sgt. Charles Ogden Bingham, CSA, who died Galveston 1890.
