Thanks Alan for your help. I did not know if the one in the 34th Texas Calvary was the same person. I thought I read that he died in Jan. 1899 and the pension wasn't applied for until July 1899. As a novice genealogist, this is very confusing. I know that it is difficult to find a paper trail that is completely accurate. Thank you again for your response. I'll keep looking for another thread that may give me information on his family that I can follow.
